Hello and welcome to my website! My name is Jacob Owings and I am an Avian Technician and amateur Nature Photographer living in Oregon. While I enjoy photographing all species that I can find around me, birds are definitely my main focal point. Their diversity and abundance make them an attractive, yet available subject. Capturing sharp images of these tiny, erratic birds is a difficult, albeit addicting, challenge that keeps me coming back for more.
My main goal for my photography is to capture documentative shots that display these creatures in their natural habitat. I particularly enjoy photographing lesser-known species that are often overshadowed by more charismatic or iconic animals. I hope to bring light to the beautiful creatures that can be found all around us. All of my images are taken in the wild with proper etiquette to minimize disturbance to my subjects.
I hope to sell some prints of the images in my gallery, fill out the form on the Contact Information page for more information!
